Does technostress inhibit employee innovation? Examining the linear and curvilinear influence of technostress creators. Communications of the Association for Information Systems, march 2019, vol. 44
abstract
Despite the increasing quantum of research on technostress, three particularly noteworthy gaps remain. First, though prior studies have described "technostress creators" through the five dimensions techno-overload, techno-invasion, techno-complexity, techno-insecurity, and techno-uncertainty in an aggregated way, they have not adequately considered how these technostress creators individually influence job outcomes. Second, though past organizational research suggests a curvilinear relationship between job stress and job outcomes, research has yet to examine whether the stress-performance dynamics for the technostress context follows the organizational stress literature. Third, even though the literature emphasizes information and communication technology (ICT)-enabled innovation in firms, research has not explored what influence the technostress creators have on ICT-enabled innovation in-depth. Grounding our arguments in the control theory of occupational stress and conservation of resources (COR) theory, we first theorize the linear and curvilinear relationships for each of the five technostress creators with ICT-enabled employee innovation and then test the hypothesized relationships via conducting a survey on organizational employees who regularly used ICTs for professional tasks. The results offer a nuanced understanding about the nature of individual technostress creators and their relationships with ICT-enabled employee innovation. On the practical front, our research paves the way for more meaningful technostress-management strategies in organizations.

abstract
The article aims to show emerging forms of women's empowerment in and through digital. Based on a feminist typology of power, we describe three types of empowerment processes. The first, power with, relies on collaboration and mutual support. We exemplify it with women's networks in the digital world. We illustrate the second, power for, with the femtech movement and technological applications allowing women to increase the control of their body. The third, power within, refers to overcoming internalized domination, as cyberfeminism first wave will illustrate.

abstract
This paper explores the interaction between mobile network operators (MNOs) and smart grid operators from an economic and strategic point of view. We first present the emerging new actors in the evolving smart grid value chain. We then focus on the role of MNOs and study the different roles they could play in this value chain, not only as connectivity providers for connecting consumers to distributed energy storage and production facilities and for ensuring demand-response, but also with regards to their expertise as Internet of Things (IoT) players and their energy generation and storage assets. Based on this ecosystem analysis, we build three business models canvasses for the MNO as a Demand Response (DR) aggregator, as a Virtual Power Plant (VPP) and as an enhanced VPP where it also acts as a prosumer with generation/storage facilities. We show that the first two services fit very well with the European context, while the third is well suited for sub-Saharan African countries.

Although, the KM-culture research has helped to validate the importance of cultural values for companies' KM initiatives and provided insights into some important values, it still lacks frameworks and analysis outlining how specific types of cultural values might relate to Knowledge Management systems adoption and subsequent outcomes. In this article, we provide a three-dimensional framework to help managers articulate how culture affects their unit's ability to create, transfer and apply knowledge through KMS use. To illustrate the application of the framework, we also present an exploratory case study we have performed in an international organization in the area of development assistance and capacity development.

abstract
Today's acceleration of technological innovations has transformed the use, behaviors, and practices of individuals as well as those of businesses and, more generally, the structure of markets. This transformation, induced by digital technologies at the fingertips of all of us, is of crucial strategic importance for organizations, but also for individuals. This immense change has given rise to a new type of intelligence that must be further cultivated. Digital intelligence is the ability to acquire and apply new knowledge and skills related to digital technologies: social, mobile, analytics, cloud, and, more recently, cybersecurity. More than just the ability to use digital technologies, it addresses the what, why, where, when, who, how, and how much of digital technology to improve our operational efficiency and outcomes. Digital intelligence is fundamentally about our relationship with technology, just as emotional intelligence is about our relationship with others.

abstract

The main objective of Big Data is to meet business competitiveness and facilitate decision-making. To achieve this goal, the implementation of a governance plan is necessary. In this article, we propose a big data governance evaluation approach based on the fact that big data governance is seen as an artifact having the characteristics of a system. We develop a multi-criteria hierarchy organized according to the main dimensions of systems theory. The approach is illustrated on a practical case.

abstract
Historical social networks are analyzed using prosopographical methods. Prosopography is a branch of historical research that focuses on the identification of social networks that appear in historical sources. It aims to represent and to interpret historical data, sourced from texts. Conceptual modeling imparts the capability to process these large data sets. This paper outlines a conceptual approach to designing a prosopographical database encompassing uncertainty. Our contribution is threefold: i) a generic certainty-based prosopographical conceptual model; ii) two meta-models with a mapping between them; iii) an illustrative example generating a customized prosopographical relational model. Unlike past approaches, our design process helps us to integrate disparate points of view as expressed in the prosopography community. We apply our approach to the prosopographical database Studium Parisiense dedicated to members of Paris schools and university between the twelfth and sixteenth centuries. This instantiation validates the usefulness of our approach.

abstract
The humanities focus on understanding human beings and cultures. They include such disciplines as history, literature, and the arts. Digital humanities, defined as the application of IT to research and teaching in the humanities, is well established as a field in its own right. More particularly, research in the humanities is in demand of innovative and useful IT artifacts. This makes it a relevant application area for design science research (DSR). This also raises specific challenges to DSR researchers, due to the specific stakeholders and knowledge domains that come into play in the digital humanities. This paper focuses on prosopography, a branch of digital humanities that represents and interprets historical data, sourced from texts describing historical person's life. Starting from typical issues addressed by prosopographical researchers, we identify relevant IT artifacts to address these issues, making DSR relevant for prosopographical research. We adapt and instantiate Hevner's DSR framework to the specific case of prosopography, as a first step towards defining a DSR framework for the humanities more generally. Based on this adapted and instantiated DSR framework, we propose two artifacts: requirements and a methodology for prosopography. We demonstrate the methodology on a prosopography scenario.

abstract

2017 was the pivotal year for the cryptocurrency made its foray into the mainstream financial markets. However, in 2018 it was a panic itself. For the market, it is imperative to ruminate reasonable analysis and expectations compiling various situations. We examine the dynamic interactions between the coin market behavior and market events and social metrics to incorporate potential coin traders' social belief and response into the market moves. We use hidden Markov model performing four different experiments in two-coin markets. We show that market events such as closing price and trading volume are important predictors for the coin market behavior, but not equally in all experiments. Interestingly, hidden Markov process demonstrates that social media metrics fairly explain the future behavior of the coin markets. Overall, this study shows the combined impact of market events and social factors through varied sequences adjusted for each market situation on the coin market behavior.

abstract
Digital transformation commonly refers to a disruptive process that changes significally the way organizations evolve, compete, interact and create value. Therefore, it is critical for companies to hadle with the business potential of innovative digital capabilities, to update their operational and decision making processes and to develop new strategic business models. In this complex endeavor, the evolution of firm's information system is an important facet that brings together technology, organization and human actors. Enterprise Architecture (EA) methods and frameworks are proposed as essential techniques to handle such evolutions. However, the complex and disruptive nature of the underlying transformations raise multiple questions concerning the adequacy of EA for digital transformation projects. Therefore, this paper aims to examine the extent to which existing EA approaches support such projects. It presents an analysis of interviews with both IT and business projects managers from five different companies. We asked about concrete projects, both about the project goals and the EA methods used, but also about the difficulties and challenges they face in their daily work when using EA frameworks. The analysis show that although existing EA frameworks are essential tools to sup-port and drive digital transformation projects, some important contextual and organizational characteristics are missing. These characteristics are discussed and a research agenda is suggested to fill this gap.

abstract
Most modern-day enterprises are confronted with the challenge of dealing with digital transformations. Digital transformation (DT) commonly refers to a disruptive process that changes profoundly the way companies compete, interact, and create value. Enterprise Architecture Management (EAM) is supposed to be a suitable means to support the management of enterprise transformations and fundamental changes. However, the depth and disruptive nature of the underlying changes raise multiple questions concerning the adequacy of EAM for digital transformation management; in current corporate practice, EAM does not appear to be regularly applied as a support service for digital transformation. In this paper, we investigate the extent to which EAM can provide the required inputs to conduct the activities part of digital transformation endeavors. To this end, we rely on a comparable study found in the literature and extend its scope into digital enterprise transformations. We start by examining which activities need to be carried out to manage digital transformation. We further identify information inputs that are necessary to conduct these activities. We can then analyze whether EAM can supply the required inputs. We will focus on strategic areas of Digital Transformation Management (DTM) and further investigate which information inputs are needed for these DTM activities. When demand and supply are compared, and although EAM provides valuable inputs to organizational issues, EAM shows weaknesses when it comes to information about market trends, contextual and environmental information needed for strategy management activities.

Does technology enabled design-thinking influence digital innovation? An innovation affordance perspective. HICSS 2019 : 52nd Hawai'i International Conference on System Sciences, 08-11 january 2019, Maui, United States, 2019

abstract
Though prior research recognizes the vital role of the ‘innovation agents' in effectuating digital innovation, little attention has been given to examine the role of ‘innovation affordances'. Drawing on digital innovation literature, we conceptualize the influence of both -‘innovation agent' and ‘innovation affordance' factors on the extent of digital innovation. We then test the theorized model via a quasi-experimental study, where the extent of digital innovation from a technology enabled design-thinking creative process is examined. Though the results from our study demonstrate the salience of both ‘innovation agent' and ‘innovation affordance' factors, the latter operationalized through technology enabled design-thinking process, the construct for which is developed in our study, has a stronger influence on digital innovation. Our research emphasizes the need for having a well-structured technology enabled creative process to actualize the innovation affordances. The findings have significant theoretical and practical implications.

abstract
Institutional and technological changes can conduct organizations to strengthen or defend their pragmatic legitimacy, in particular through digitization. In this vein, some organizations in the emergency sector have triggered massive investments to address their stakeholders' informational needs, thereby defending their pragmatic legitimacy. However, knowledge remains scarce about the practical influence of organizational search for pragmatic legitimacy on operations, especially in emergency settings. Inspired from pragmatist thinking and grounded theory principles, Anouck Adrot and Marie Bia-Figueiredo propose space as an intermediary concept to better understand the materiality of emergency organizations' pursuit for pragmatic legitimacy. They propose a relational frameworks that depicts emergency response as a spatial journey. Composed of six mutually imbricated occupational areas, the proposed framework highlights how Sigma, a firefighting organization, attempted to defend occupational balance in operations. Our contribution is double. First, we highlight how materiality can be reused by practitioners to develop reflexivity about practice and institutions. Second, we outline that a spatial approach to operations can help anticipate potential side effects of transformation, that can endanger pragmatic legitimacy.

The key role of data in the evolution of the dialysis business ecosystem in France.
abstract
In this paper, we have chosen to study the sector of dialysis in France. Several scholars have already analyzed this sector from a cost perspective (Benin et al., 2007; Just et al., 2008; Cleemput & De Laet, 2013). This topic is not our main subject of interest here. The purpose of this preliminary research is to describe the evolution of this ecosystem facing on the one hand technological and strategic challenges and regulatory constraints (the dialysis activity is tightly regulated in France) on the other and to see how the digital transformation and uberization (through platforms operated by new entrants) could spread within the sector. Our research question is to what extent these changes related in particular to the role of data and new digital uses can be identified and will impact the sector of dialysis in France? To address this issue, we have adopted a case study approach and then we will draw out general findings from two case studies in the last part of this paper.

Phubbing amongst higher education students : policy implications for sustainable development.
abstract
Smart phones usage has caused a new source of concern in real life called: phubbing. Phubbing can be described as an individual looking at his or her mobile phone during a conversation with other individuals. They are known to escape from interpersonal communication due to mobile use (Karadağ et al.2015). This recent phenomenonis often ignored in the literature in the context of higher education institutions. We address this research gap and ground our study in past literature and hypothesize the mediating influence of internet addiction on fear of missing out and phubbing behavior amongst graduate students. Signs of addiction to the Internet are correlated to smartphone usage (Robert and David, 2016). Fear of missing out, is defined as a pervasive apprehension of being disconnected, absent or missing an experience which others (i.e., peers, friends, family) might receive or enjoy (Przybylski, Murayama, DeHaan, & Gladwell, 2013). The findings from this study, provide implications for higher educational institutions developing strategies for UN global sustainable development goals numbers 4.7 and 4.A which are about equitable education; building inclusive and safe school environment, respectively (UNDP, 2019).
